Danny & Marybeth

Trainer & Racing Manager

Danny is a second generation horse trainer and as such he has a lifetime of experience with training racehorses. He is first and foremost a horseman with a natural instinct to understand what your horse needs. He is the ultimate professional when it comes to training. You can be assured that if your horse has the ability you will see the results come race day.

Marybeth also has a lifetime spent with horses and hails from a racing family. Both her maternal and paternal great grandparents raced thoroughbreds. Her father, Paul Jones, raced wonderful fillies Allez Show (Flight Stakes winner) and Love A Show (Blue Diamond Winner) was the Secretary of Tattersalls Race club for 17 years, was on the advisory board of the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival for many years and was a former President of the National Racehorse Owners Association.

In 1993, Marybeth purchased a small boutique farm on the Darling Downs, where she bred racehorses. During this time she also held the position of the Secretary of the Queensland Thoroughbred Breeders. After five years in the country Marybeth moved to Brisbane and became the only female Thoroughbred Bloodstock Agent in the Southern Hemisphere at the time when she worked for QBBS Pty Ltd.

In conjunction with her role as a medical device specialist, Marybeth runs the day to day operation of the Falvelon Lodge. Marybeth’s duties include accounts, client liaison, wages and everything else that a successful business requires, to operate at the highest level.

Dr Mark McGarry BVSc – McGarry Equine Veterinary Services

Stable Veterinarian

Equine Veterinarian Dr Mark McGarry started his career working at a busy equine referral hospital before taking up a lucrative position with the Macau Jockey Club. After 3.5 years, Mark returned to Brisbane in 2010 and now operates his own business using the latest technology including digital X-Ray, video endoscopy and ultrasonography. Mark is an integral part of the Falvelon Lodge team ensuring that our racehorses get the very best of care. Mark visits our stable six mornings a week following track work and also visits the agistment properties on a regular basis so that he can treat any of our horses that are spelling. Mark’s strengths are his thoroughness in examining the horses, his care and compassion for ensuring the horse is comfortable and his ability to liaise with owners to explain complex veterinary procedures and medical conditions

Michael Bryant

Chiropractor – Equine Muscle Specialist

Affectionately referred to as “Golden Hands” Michael Bryant is an invaluable asset to the Falvelon Lodge team. Danny and Michael have been close friends for over 20 years and we are very grateful that he continues to fly up from Victoria once a month to examine every horse in our stable. Michael is an Equine Muscle Specialist which means that he examines and treats both skeletal and muscle injuries. If skeletal he will manipulate depending on what is required without the use of mallets. If muscular then he advises on drug and/or ultrasound therapy. As athlete’s racehorses are particularly susceptible to muscle strains and tears and Michael is a genius at identifying issues before they develop into problems. Such is the high regard that Michael is held that he was flown to England by the connections to be on hand to treat the World Champion Sprinter Black Caviar during the mighty mare’s Royal Ascot campaign.

Lucas Kawka

Stable Hand

Lucas supplements his income as a professional tennis coach by working at Falvelon Lodge as a stable hand each morning during the week. Lucas developed his skill of working with racehorses several years ago when he was employed by former Leading Queensland Trainer Bruce McLoughlin. Lucas is a very easy going, hard-working asset to our team who always manages to remain calm and relaxed regardless of the situation.

Whitney & Pepper

Security

Bred by Tinseltown Labradors, Whitney & Pepper, hold the most demanding job of all our staff. They are on call 24 hours a day, they work in all conditions and they work for next to nothing.
