It is not until something is taken away that you realise how much you enjoyed and appreciated it. When Back The Rock won at Eagle Farm it was a strong win but it didn’t quite feel right and truthfully there was a slight tinge of sadness as the COVID restrictions meant that no connections or crowd were there to cheer big Woody home. When Mittere saluted recently at Eagle Farm there was a smattering of owners on course but we were basically kept separated with responsible social distancing. As the COVID restrictions are slowing easing and owners/connections are allowed back on course the joy and excitement is returning to racing. When Ginger Rock won at Doomben recently the connections were out in force and the cheers echoed across the track. There is no denying that having a crowd cheer home a horse is a welcome sound once again.
