MITTERE PUTS IN HUGE RUN FIRST UP

Jul 12, 2019

It was a huge run at Doomben, for strikingly handsome colt Mittere, in his first start back this campaign. Mittere, a 3YO by Smart Missile out of Rainbow Joy (half-brother to former stable favourite Snitzel’s Joy) easily took the lead and bowled along at very fast pace to spread the field out and lead by a couple of lengths. After 26 weeks between starts he just lacked that little bit of race fitness which started to take its toll as they ran the last 50m. Having done a lot of work in the early stages of the race it was impressive that the colt fought on bravely to be beaten by the narrowest of margins in a photo finish. So close was the margin that in the Trackside Photography photo attached it appears that Mittere on the inside has won. However the margin was a nostril to the aptly named Lips and Hips. It was an impressive performance and Mittere and his jockey Tiffani Brooker deservedly earned a lot of admirers for the gutsy performance.
