We had a couple of fillies having their first start on Saturday and both showed a lot of promise for the future.  Graceful Rose at the Gold Coast was unlucky that the gap closed and she was held up for a run causing her to finish third.  The race caller amusingly announced that “Graceful Rose should have won by as far as you can kick your cap”.

The other filly had some serious competition for her first start in what could arguably be regarded as the toughest 2YO field this season.  Not quite 100% yet she showed early pace had a good kick at the 200m mark but weaken against the strong opposition at the 100m mark.

The Magic Millions yearlings arrived into work earlier this week which is always an exciting time.  All four have done exceptionally well since they were broken in.  Thanks to the great job done at Jericho Thoroughbreds they have all behaved beautifully on the track.

It was tough for buyers at the recent Inglis Easter Yearling Sale with a strong international buying contingent pushing the prices up to record levels.  The sale also experienced tremendous interest from the general population as a half-brother to the world champion Black Caviar went under the hammer for a record $5 Million.  Despite being the under bidder on several lots we were very fortunate to secure for one of our owners an outstanding daughter of leading sire Fastnet Rock of a Group 1 winning mare Rostova.
